Combaton is restructuring the business model in order to have an effective expansion plan to lay the groundwork for future professional teams. There will be a Tournament of Games in August of 2010. Our approach this year while we are restructuring is to have an open call for anyone wanting to participate in comBATON.
Players will be mixed and match according to age and weight. This will give those who have no experience the opportunity to play with those who do.
Before the tournament begins, there will be seminars explaining each facet of the game to players.
In addition, there will be a combine similar to what the the NFL does, but oriented to the martial artist. This will be a competition in which athletes are competing against themselves but also against the clock. The winner will be the fastest time.
The comBATON combine will also be used in future comBATON competitions to measure the athletic ability of the player for the pre-pro all star team

Explaination of the Take-Down Rule:
When a player crosses into the strike zone area, that is, the red matted area around the goal pole, a player can kick his or her opponent twice in succession and may initiate a take-down and grapple. However, after the player kicks their opponent twice, the opponent can also initiate the take-down. In other words, if either or of the players kicks twice in succession then it becomes legal for both to initiate the throw to the ground.

Simultaneous Possession of the Baton
In a simultaneous possession when two opposing players have a hold on the baton, a fight-off results to determine which team gains possession. In a SIMULTANEOUS POSSESSION IN WHICH THERE ARE THREE OR MORE OPPOSING PLAYERS INVOLVED, the coach(s) of the team(s) will determine which player participates in the fight-off.
